1964 Documented reliquary theca with relic of St. Pope Pius X

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex corpore  (of the body) pre-canonization relic of Saint Pope Pius XA relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Pius Pp. X (Saint Pope Pius X ).  On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Postulator General of the Vallumbrosan Order (O.S.B. Vall). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by the Order on 8 September 1964.

Saint Pope Pius X (†1914) was head of the Catholic Church from 4 August 1903 to his death in August 1914. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church and the Society of Saint Pius X is named after him. Pius X is known for vigorously opposing modernist interpretations of Catholic doctrine and for promoting liturgical reforms and scholastic theology. He initiated the preparation of the 1917 Code of Canon Law, the first comprehensive and systemic work of its kind. Pius X was known for his firm demeanor and sense of personal poverty, reflected by his membership of the Third Order of Saint Francis. After his death, a strong cult of devotion followed his reputation for piety and holiness. He was beatified in 1951 and canonized in 1954 by Pope Pius XII. A statue bearing his name stands within Saint Peter's Basilica, and his birth town was renamed Riese Pio X after his death. His Feast day is commemorated on 21 August.
