Reliquary theca with pre-canonization relics of 8 Saint Martyrs of Turon

Large round glass-fronted brass reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus  (from the bone) pre-canonization relics of Eight Catholic Martyrs of Turon. The relics are affixed to a red silk ground and identified on typeset cedulae labels. On the back, the theca is secured by a seal of red wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of the Postulator General of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (commonly known as De La Salle Brothers).

The Holy Martyrs of Turon were a group of eight members of the Catholic, religious-teaching congregation Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as De La Salle Brothers, and one Passionist priest who were executed by insurrectionists in Spain, during the Asturias uprising of October 1934. The martyrs of Turon were beatified By Pope John Paul II on 29 April 1990. They were canonized on 21 November 1999. Their Feast day is 9 October.

The Martyrs of Turon are: Brother Cirilo Bertrán, director of the community of Turón; Brother Marciano-José; Brother Julian-Alfredo; Brother Victoriano-Pios; Brother Benjamin-Julian; Brother Benito de Jesús, (the first Argentine saint); Brother Augusto-Andrés; and Brother Aniceto-Adolfo, at twenty years old, the youngest Brother of the community.
