Reliquary theca with relics of St. Bonaventure Doctor of the Church & St. Floridus, Bishop

Round glass-fronted gilt brass reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Floridus andsecond-class ex veste (of the vestment) relic of Saint Bonaventure, Doctor of the Church. The relics are affixed to a red silk background decorated with silver wire ornamentation and identified on manuscript cedulae labels. On the back, the theca is secured with a perfectly-preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Italian Roman Catholic Bishop.

Saint Floridus (Florius) was an early bishop of Città di Castello who attended the synod of 593 later a friend of St. Gregory the Great.

Saint Bonaventure († 1274), was an Italian medieval Franciscan, scholastic theologian and philosopher. The seventh Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor, he was also a Cardinal Bishop of Albano. He was canonised in 1482 by Pope Sixtus IV and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1588 by Pope Sixtus V. He is known as the "Seraphic Doctor".
