Theca with relics of St. Simon de Rojas, the Apostle of the Ave Maria

Round glass-fronted white-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus  (of the bone) relic of St. Simon de Rojas.  The relic is affixed to a ground of red silk and identified on a typeset cedula label as S. Simonis de Roxas (St. Simon de Rojas).  On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity for the Redemption of Captives (also known as the Trinitarians and abbreviated O.SS.T.). The relic is accompanied by the facsimile of the authentics document issued and signed in 1983 by the Pro-Postulator General responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization.

St. Simón de Rojas (†1624) was a Spanish priest of the Trinitarian Order known as the "Apostle of the Ave Maria" for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. A person of many abilities, Rojas was a theologian, a spiritual writer, and a friend and benefactor of the poor. Rojas was beatified by Pope Clement XIII in 1766 and on 3 July 1988, just before the close of the Marian Year, he was canonized by Pope John Paul II.
