2007 Documented reliquary theca with relics of the Blessed Maria Merkert, co-foundress of the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth

Cruciform yellow-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus  (of the bone) relic of the Blessed Maria Luise Merkert. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as ex ossibus B. Maria Merkert (of the bone of the Blessed Maria Merkert). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of Andrea Ambrose, Postulator General for the Cause of Beatification. The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued by the Postulator General on 30 September 2007 (on the day of the beatification) and comes in the original velvet-lined case of the issue.

Blessed Maria Luise Merkert (†1872) was a German Roman Catholic professed religious and the co-foundress of the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth. Merkert worked to help those in need including the poor and ill and tended to them with her older sister until her sudden death and the death of her other companions - this left Merkert alone to found and maintain her order as its first Superior General from 1859 until her death. Merkert's beatification was celebrated under Pope Benedict XVI on 30 September 2007.
